Michael Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana, to Joseph Walker Jackson and Katherine Esther Scruse Jackson. When Michael was eight years old, he joined his four brothers;Jermaine, Jackie, Marlon, and Tito;to form The Jackson 5. The group was an immediate success. Michael Jackson's 1982 breakthrough solo album Thriller is the all-time best-selling album worldwide. His untimely death rocked the whole world and was the subject of media conversation for many months. He was laid to rest on September 3, 2009, more than two months after his death.
