Summary

Pidapipo is a celebration of authentic gelato alongside classic Italian and contemporary creative desserts, cakes and drinks. Reflecting the ethos of the infamous Melbourne Gelataria all recipes are dictated by the seasons – quite uncommon in the world of gelato! Over 60 inventive and delicious ice-cream creations are exquisitely photographed and accompanied by illustrations from renowned French illustrator Jean Jullien. All of your favorite flavors are included as well as more unusual recipes including banana milk gelato; raspberry and rose bombe Alaska; avocado and lime sorbetto; salted caramel pie; pumpkin pie; tiramisu layer cake and double roasted chocolate gelato with salted chocolate ganache. Pidapipo is fun, quirky and delicious – this is not your average ice-cream book!

Author Biography

Lisa Valmorbida has always loved gelato. After several years working in Melbourne restaurants, she traveled to Carpigiani Gelato University in Bologna (yes, it's really a thing) to learn from the world's best. As a graduate, she visited her family's hometown of Vincenza, the place where she first experienced real gelato with her nonno. She returned to Melbourne to open gelateria Pidapipo. The name is inspired by an Italian version of Simon Says she played as a child with her nonno. Her mission at Pidapipo is to serve truly seasonal gelato that is respectful of the ingredient and made from scratch daily and served from authentic pozzeti all year round. This bright and cheery destination now has people lining up for its authentic, indulgent gelato every day of the week, even in the middle of winter.
