Summary

The authors assert that this book has been under construction from at least their respective retirement years, 1993-1994. Finally, they have set the publication year, 2020 CE. By this time it is assumed that they got it right. Lovers of good literature will enjoy the sixty-six-year epic, The Real Story of Dick and Jane. They have included the ghostwritten life story of Jane's father as well. Chapter Seven, "Rolling Wheels". Ray Switzer's memoir will take the reader back into every decade of the 20th Century.
The iconic Dick and Jane series of first reading books for children (e.g. Fun with Dick and Jane) were published in the early 1950s, just about when the authors began their journey together. Now we will finally hear about all the fun they had.

Author Biography

Jane Charlotte Switzer, born in 1931 to Raymond and Charlotte Switzer, grew up in Sharon Hill, PA. She loved her school and her church, made many friends, and never wavered from her goal of becoming an elementary school teacher herself. After graduating from Sharon Hill High School in 1949, she attended and in 1953 graduated with honors with a B.S. from West Chester State Teachers College (now West Chester University). That same eventful year, she married "Dick" Morris of nearby Collingdale, just across the railroad tracks. She taught in the Springfield and Marple-Newtown school systems, retiring in 1993. And as she has often said, "The rest is history." Here it is.Born and christened Franklin Richard Morris in early January 1932, "Dick" grew up in the boro of Collingdale, PA. He graduated high school in 1949. The next few years were turbulent and life-changing. Through the ministry of the local Baptist church, in 1951, he met Christ as his Savior, many Christian friends, and finally a tall, lovely blonde named Jane. She was the entire inspiration for his growing up. They married in 1953 and had three children. Eventually, Dick was employed by Ford Aerospace Corporation for 31 years, retiring in 1994. With his wife's encouragement, Dick graduated with a B.S. from Drexel University's Evening College in 1964. He agrees that if only for their own memories, they should write all this down. So they did.
